Health & Safety Policy
The Company recognises and accepts the responsibility to provide and maintain safe working conditions and a healthy environment for all persons who may be affected by the Company and its operations.
It is company policy, so far as is reasonably practicable, to:
- Safeguard the health, safety and welfare of those who may be affected by the work activities.
- Provide safe plant and equipment and to ensure it is properly inspected, calibrated and maintained.
- Provide any necessary information, instruction, training and supervision.
- Ensure that the work place, access to it and egress from it, is safe and without unnecessary risk.
- Ensure that any substances and/or chemicals used as part of the work are assessed for their possible effect on health and appropriate systems of work implemented for their safe transportation, storage, use and disposal.
- Ensure that provision is made for adequate welfare facilities for those visiting.
- Communicate with business associates on all aspects of health and safety and solicit their co-operation and assistance to create a safe working culture.
- Identify hazards associated with the work activities, define the control measures required to eliminate or minimise risk and check their effectiveness and enforcement.
- Ensure that consideration is given to preventing injury and ill health and all accidents and incidents are investigated and their outcome communicated and documented.
- Ensure compliance to applicable local and UK legislation.
- Commit to continuous improvement in the performance of health and safety including the setting and reviewing of company objectives.
The Managing Director is responsible for health and safety and it is expected that those who work on behalf of the Company co-operate and contribute to the provision of a safe and healthy working environment by showing a ‘duty of care’ for their own health and safety and for others who may be affected by their acts or omissions. The Company works with a consultant in conjunction with Health and Safety, and Environmental matters, and reviews this policy annually.
Environment Policy
The company will:
- Endeavour to minimise any negative impact on the environment in all its activities and to maintain a sustainable environment for the future by the prevention of pollution from our storage, transport and handling of materials and waste, our processes, activities and operations.
- Comply with applicable environmental legal requirements, where reasonably practicable, and with other requirements to which the organisation subscribes.
- Promote environmental awareness; encourage a positive attitude/culture towards the environment in the local worksite/environment and our client environment.
- Adopt good environmental practices, which conserve natural resources, and to achieve continuous environmental improvement by improving the efficiency, effectiveness and economy of our operations, efficient energy usage, and waste reduction.
- Promote the reuse and recycling of materials including suppliers and those who work on behalf of WSC.
- Promote a reduction in waste and employ environmentally acceptable methods of waste disposal, including the safe disposal of consumable items such as batteries and equipment up to and including a complete system at the end of its life.
- Make provision for the cleaning up of any spillage of oil by the use of ‘Oil Kits’, which will be provided on every site on which activity involving mineral insulating oil is to take place.
- Monitor the progress and review on our environmental performance in accordance with statutory requirements.
